Lady Wildcats win all three matches

It may be early in the season, but the Taft junior varsity girls soccer team got a big jump to their season Saturday when they won three matches to take the Garces Tournament at the State Farm Sports Village in Bakersfield.

“Our girls keep improving every game and it is fun to watch them pick up more and more of the fundamentals each time they step on the field,” said Taft coach Ryan Hickman. “ I couldn’t be more pleased with where we are at right now especially in pulling of the upset against Tulare Western."

With the tournament victories, Taft remains perfect on the season with an overall record of 4-0.

Two of the three matches the Lady Wildcats won ended in shutouts starting with a 1-0 victory over Tulare Western. Taft followed up with a 2-0 win over Delano before wrapping up their tournament run by defeating Arvin 5-1.

Taft returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Bakersfield to face South. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.
