Phyllis Jean Seward Cervelli passed away in Medford, Oregon on December 10, 2013 after a long, courageous fight to rehabilitate and recover from a stroke, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born in Sioux City, Iowa to parents Lyle and Mable Seward. Both she and her sister, JoAnn, moved with the family to Mount Shasta and attended Mount Shasta High School. Phyllis had a great passion for animals. She often fostered dogs and cats for the Siskiyou Humane Society in Mount Shasta. She adopted many homeless animals as well. Phyllis was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and received the Order of the Rose from her Chapter in Mount Shasta. Phyllis was a talented artist and loved to sketch horses and hand quilt. She earned a Certified Teacher’s Aide Certificate for the state of California. She and her sister also attended Bryman’s School and earned a clerical degree in medical technology and was very proud of that. One of her great joys in life was being with her grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by her three children and five grandchildren: Ron Cervelli, wife Dixie, grandson, Tyler of Mount Shasta; Monty Cervelli, wife Suzie, granddaughters, Kelcie and Madysson, and grandson, Colton of Lake Shastina; and Terri Dahl, husband David, and grandson, Thomas of Medford, Oregon. Phyllis is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Graham of Redding, California; along with her niece, Michelle Graham of Redding, California; as well as several other grandnieces and nephews. Phyllis is also survived by her former husband, Robert Cervelli of Weed, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Mable Seward; nephew, Rory Graham; and brother-in-law Jim Graham. A celebration of her life and graveside services will be held Friday, December 20 at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Cemetery at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in her name to Siskiyou Humane Society, 1208 N.
