Taft goes 2-1 to begin tournament

The Taft varsity girls basketball team are in the midst of completing their tournament run after going 2-1 to begin the Arvin Tournament.

Taft's lone loss of the tournament so far came Friday with a 48-43 defeat to Delano. The Lady Wildcats trailed 27-14 at the end of the first half before outscoring Delano in the second half. However, it was not enough for Taft to pull out the victory.

Neher led the way with 16 points.

Taft bounced back Saturday with a 40-26 win over Mira Monte. The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Lions in three out of the four quarters to win. Neher again led in scoring with 8.

The Lady Wildcats followed with 38-28 victory over Wasco.

Taft outscored Wasco in the first quarter before the Lady Tigers outscored Taft in the second. Taft took over in the second half to win the game.
