A woman shot by Kern County Sheriff's deputies in Ford City Sunday night has died from her wounds.
Kern County Sheriffs Lt. Todd Bishop said deputies responding to a check the welfare call on the 800 block of Fillmore Street were forced to fire on the woman after she armed herself with an unspecified weapon.
“Deputies were confronted by the suspect inside the residence,” Bishop said. “As a result of her actions deputies were forced to use deadly force against her.”
Her name has not been released.
It is not known what type of weapon the woman had.
The shooting took place about 7:45 p.m.
The woman was airlifted to Kern Medical Center but died later Sunday night, Bishop said.
