Structure was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived
Fire destroyed a mobile home in the McKittrick area Wednesday night.
The fire was reported just before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Addie Avenue and Ellis Street on the west side of Highway 33 just south of McKittrick.
The double-wide structure was engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on scene and a second alarm was immediately requested, adding two more engines to the response for total of five. There was no water in the immediate area and engines had to shuttle water from McKittrick.
A water tender was also dispatched to supply water.
The structure had burned nearly to the ground when firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes.
There was apparently no one living in the mobile home when the fire broke out.
Damage is listed at $6,000.
The cause is under investigation.
