Police went to arrest woman on warrant, say they found man with meth, too

When Taft Police went to arrest a woman in South Taft on warrant Tuesday, they got their suspect, but they also made a drug trafficking arrest when they found man in possession of about three-quarters of an ounce of methamphetamine.

Chief of Police Ed Whiting said officers went to 420-1/2 Montview Avenue to arrest Victoria Erwin-Schiskie, 21, on a misdemeanor warrant.

They found Erwin-Schiskie at the resident, and they also found a man, Paul Blanco, 35.

Whiting said officers recognized Blanco as being on AB109 Probation and subject to search.

When officers searched, Whiting said, they found several bags containing the suspected methamphetamine plus a small amount of heroin and a small amount of cash.

Blanco was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a syringe.

Blanco is being held on $92,500 bail for the drug charges and without bail for the probation violation, according to the Kern County Sheriff's jail website.
