Suspect charged with ADW, conspiracy, participating in street gang
Taft Police made an arrest Wednesday night in connection with the stabbing of a Taft man in his home last week.
Police, backed by Kern County Sheriff's deputies, served arrest and search warrants at 301-1/2 Jackson Street about 6:30 p.m. and arrested Jesse Jesus Hernandez, 36.
Hernandez is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and participating in a street gang, said Taft Police Lt. Pete Aranda..
Hernandez and several other people were detained Wednesday night but only Hernandez was arrested, Aranda said.
Hernandez is being charged in connection with the Jan. 10 attack on Ioelu Burt Laulusa, 33.
Police said Laulusa was attacked by a group of men who broke into his home on the 200 block of Warren Street.
He suffered lacerations to his hands, feet and forehead.
Hernandez was taken to the Taft Jail then transferred to the Kern County Sheriff's central receiving facility early Thursday morning.
He is being held on $100,000 bail.
