Suspect was caught in the act and fled, Sheriff says. He was guest at home where acts allegedly took place.

A Taft man is being held without bail on multiple felony counts stemming from the alleged repeated molestation of two young children in Taft Heights.

Sgt. Martin Downs said Ernesto Roman, also known as Ernesto Roman Carderon, was arrested in Fresno by the Kern County Sheriff's Special Operations Group on Tuesday.

The arrest came 11 days after he was caught in the act of molesting the victims, an eight-year-old girl and seven-year-old boy, by their mother, Downs said.

Roman, 45, fled the residence on the 600 block of B Street on foot after he was caught.

Deputies were called and they learned that Roman, 45, had been a guest of the family for several months, Downs said.

Deputies also learned during interviews that the suspect repeatedly molested both victims.

Investigators tracked Roman down in Fresno.

He was brought back to the Kern County Jail where he is being held on multiple counts, including two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 by force or fear, kidnapping and sexual battery.

Downs declined to release further details of the allegations.

Roman is being held on a no-bail immigration hold as well.
