Taft College falls to Fresno City

The Taft College women’s basketball team will try to shake off a pounding from powerhouse Fresno City College when the Cougars host Reedley Saturday in the Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center.

Tipoff is at 5 p.m.

Fresno won its 69th consecutive Central Valley Conference game Wednesday by overwhelming TC 110-63.

The Rams, ranked No. 1 in northern California and No 2 in the state, use a smothering press that forced 23 Cougar turnovers.
FCC led 56-25 at the half and kept the power on in the second half.

The lopsided loss overshadowed a 32-point effort from Cougar sophomore guard Erica Evans.

She canned 11 of her 19 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws.

The only other Cougar in double figures was Ramonique Redding with 12 points.

Kennedy Kunce and Angie Banks scored 6 points each and Mylasia Smith scored 4 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.  Banks also had 5 rebounds.

In other conference action Merced defeated West Hills-Lemoore 75-63 and Sequoias thumped Porterville 75-41.
