Taft Police try to stop car leaving are where two men were down. Suspects resisted arrest after crash, police said.

Three men were arrested in Ford City early Sunday after a vehicle pursuit that started in the city led Taft Police and Kern County Sheriff's deputies into the county.

The three suspects were all arrested after struggling with officers in the front yard of a home on the 100 block of Madison, Taft Police Sgt. Ray Buford said.

Buford was able to provide only few details at the scene and gave this brief account:

The chase started after officers went to the 700 block of Kern Street where there was a report of two men down.

Officers saw a vehicle leaving the area and attempted to make a traffic stop.

The driver would not yield and the pursuit started.

The chase ended a few minutes later when the suspect vehicle crashed.

All three suspects attempted to flee and then resisted arrest, Buford said.

In the meantime, medical aid was dispatched to the Kern Street location.

One person was taken to a Bakersfield hospital from that location with unknown injuries and several people were detained for questioning.
