Driver of truck that collided with motorcycle, killing man and injuring his son, will be arraigned on Feb. 24

The man accused causing the Labor Day 2013 crash that killed a Taft man and critically injured his 12-year-old son surrendered himself to Taft Police last week and was released on a promise to appear.
Chad Michael Harrison, 39, is scheduled to be arraigned in Lamont branch of Kern County Superior Court on Feb. 24 on one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence and a vehicle code violation for making an unsafe left turn.

Harrelson was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on Highway 33 and attempting a turn onto Wood Street when the front of the truck struck a motorcycle driven by Robert Mansell, 56, of Taft.

Mansell was killed. His son, Nick Mansell, 12, suffered severe injuries but is recovering.
