Two Taft women face felony assault charges after they were arrested in Ford City last week and accused of attacking another women with a chain and Taser.
Edwina Darlene Fowler, 37 is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and challenging to fight.
Christina Ortiz, 45, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and driving on a suspended license.
Kern County Sheriff's Sgt. Martin Downs said the victim, whose identity was not released, and another female, were walking in the area of Elm and Jackson streets when a vehicle driven by Ortiz with Fowler as a passenger drove into the area.
Downs said Fowler had been involved in a dispute with the victim in the past and Fowler exited the vehicle, and, with a 10-inch link of one-quarter-inch chain wrapped around her hand, attacked the victim. The victim went to the ground, Downs said, and Ortiz exited the vehicle and applied the Taser to the victim's back.
Ortiz and Fowler then left the area.
The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries.
They were arrested a short time later at Ortiz' nearby residence.
Ortiz is free on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 14.
Fowler is being held in jail in Bakersfield on $30,000 bond for the assault with a deadly weapon charge. She was arraigned on Feb. 3 and is due back in court on Feb. 18 for a preliminary hearing
