  • Eric Edward Foster was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Tuesday morning for the murder of Trinity Monique Hanna.
Foster, 28, pleaded no contest in January to first-degree murder in the beating death of the three-year-old girl in 2012.
Foster was also ordered to pay $350 in fines and restitution.
He was arrested on January 25, 2012, about 12 hours after Trinity's mother, Angela, drove her to a Bakersfield hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Angela Hanna is serving a 10-year sentence for child cruelty.
Foster was originally charged with torture, lewd and lascivious acts with a child with the use of force and other counts, but they were dismissed last month as part of a plea agreement.
The Kern County Coroner ruled that Trinity died of blunt force trauma to her head and abdomen and suffered many other injuries.
A month before her death, the little girl was treated for burns to her back from scalding water, injuries allegedly inflicted by Foster.
