TC also expanding Facebook presence
Taft College launched its newly designed homepage on Monday, said Darcy Bogle, vice president, Student Services.
"To support the goals of the committee to implement organization, consistency, and minimize/delete duplication, a multi-phase website modernization was proposed," Bogle said. "The first phase focused on the design of the homepage; the second phase will focus on ease of navigation, and the reorganization of content to create a clean, functional site."
Changes to the homepage include:
•The design has three content areas on the homepage: Banner/promos section; news; and upcoming events calendar.
•The top-right of the page contains the Cougar Tracks portal.
• Each time a viewer opens the homepage or refreshes/reloads the browser (right-click on mouse > reload/refresh) , a new picture will launch.
•The news area can be expanded to read all available items.
• There is a Google search button at the top-right.
"If you can't find a link let us know," Bogle said. "Refer to the web tree (or press ctrl/command + f to search page) for help in navigating the website."
"I appreciate the ideas of the Public Information Committee, and the talent and patience of Ricardo Garcia, as all worked together to complete the first phase of the website transformation."
College seeks to expand Facebook page
For several years the Taft College Foundation has been managing the Taft College Alumni and Friends Facebook page.
Postings to the site have been intermittent at best, said Sheri Horn Bunk, Foundation executive director.
"We now have Mahea Maui, the Foundation's office database administrator, working on keeping all events and activities posted on our Facebook page," Horn Bunk said.
"We currently have 780+ Facebook connections. Faculty, students, parents, staff and the community are invited to help the college's Website grow. If you are not a friend of the page please become one. And if you are, please invite others to join through your friend network."
Those who have an item they want posted should send it to Maui at firstname.lastname@example.org. The item should be a short narrative or a jpeg or pdf of the information.
