Paul Blanco was arrested when police went to arrest another person. He's expected to serve one year in Kern County jail

A Taft man is expected to serve about a year in jail after he was sentenced to a two-year term for possession of drugs for sale and violating his conditions of release for a previous conviction.

Paul Ray Blanco, 35, was arrested by Taft Police on January 7 when they were serving an arrest warrant on another person.

Blanco was staying at the home on the 400 block of Montview Avenue where officers went to arrest Victoria Erwin-Schiskie.

Officers searched Blanco, who was on supervised release and probation, and found about three-quarters of an ounce of methamphetamine, police said.

Blanco entered a no contest plea in Kern County Superior Court this week and was sentenced.
The Kern County Sheriff's jail website said that Blanco is scheduled to be released on January 6, 2015 with credit for good time and time served.
