Lady Lions win all three matches

While the Taft varsity girls soccer team’s season came to a crushing end this weekend a different story was playing out for the Lincoln girls soccer team after the Lady Lions won their first Bear Mountain League championship at Greenfield.

The Lady Lions had a nail biting start to the league championship when they edged out Mountain View 1-0 with Zyan Herrera scoring the goal while Izabella Nuncio getting the assist. Lincoln’s offense came alive in the second match when they handed Fairfax a 4-2 loss.

During that match, Nuncio scored half of the goals while Herrera and Yidira Leon each scoring a goal.

The Lady Lions got their second shut out in the championship match when they defeated Beardsley 2-0.

In that match, Nuncio got one of the goals 15 minutes in the first half while eighth grader Yadira Leon  got the second goal on a free kick 20 yards out with 10 minutes left in the second half.

Note: The team is coached by TUHS grad  and Lady Cats soccer program veteran, Lupe Rosales.
