Twenty two are taking part so far
In just a couple of months, more and more people will be holding activities outside.
The new West Side Wreck Hers roller derby team hopes to do the same with the possibility of holding matches during the summer.
“We started the team to introduce roller derby to the city of Taft providing a positive outlet for women in our community and teach people how to skate,” said membership director Terra Bullard.
So far 22 people are involved with the team according to Bullard.
Right now it is all about learning the skills for the team with practices being held from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
According to Bullard, newcomers are welcome to come and check it out and give the sport a shot.
“Once the ladies pass their skills assessments we will start scheduling scrimmages at the outdoor rink at 801 4th Street next to the Natatorium.”
The Wreck Hers are looking to schedule games as early as June.
