No one injured, but house sustains major damage
A single-family home was heavily damaged by fire Thursday morning.
The fire broke out about 8 a.m. on the 200 block of Jefferson, sending a large cloud of smoke over Ford City.
There were initial reports that someone may have still been inside.
An ambulance was dispatched but Kern County Firefighters searched the home after the fire was knocked down and said everyone was accounted for and there were no victims.
A woman arrived at the home while firefighters were battling the flames.
The woman, apparently a resident, ran towards the burning home and collapsed on a walkway to the house and was led away by neighbors.
The cause is under investigation.
