Bethany Fitzsimmons named Most Valuable Player
The Taft varsity girls soccer team’s season finale may have had a rough ending but the Lady Wildcats had something to cheer about after several of the players got recognized in the South Sequoia League.
Bethany Fitzsimmons had the highest honor after she was named Most Valuable Player. Fitzsimmons led the Lady Wildcats by scoring 73 out of Taft’s 103 goals this past season.
Fitzsimmons was also named to the all-SSL first team joining teammates Lizette Mendoza who led the Lady Wildcats in assists with 24 and Haylee Tracy.
Sarah Kelley and Kathy Rubio were named to the all-SSL second team. Rubio was second on the Lady Wildcats team with 19 assists.
Taft finished the season with an overall record of 20-7-1 overall, 9-3 and second in the South Sequoia League. The Lady Wildcats advanced to the quarterfinal round last Friday where Mission Oak won 9-2.
