Closure expected to last into the evening. Boulders also being cleared off Highway 166

Highway 33 is closed in Ventura County due to multiple mud and rock slides.

The roadway was closed at 12:36 p.m. Saturday, according to the Ventura California Highway Patrol office, and will stay closed through Saturday evening.

The roadway is closed from Lockwood Valley Road south to Fairview Road in Ojai.

In addition, the San Luis Obispo CHP reported a rock slide on Highway 166 in the area of Rockfront Ranch west of New Cuyama.

The CHP said Caltrans was en route to clear several boulders from the roadway, which is apparently still open.
