Public meeting on March 20 will provide info. Follow-up meeting on March 27 will help people sign up

Enrolling in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act can be confusing, but on March 20 in Taft you can get the answers to all of your questions about this program.

Join other community members on Thursday, March 20 from 6 to 7:30 at the West Side Parks and Recreation Assembly Room, 500 Cascade Place for an Affordable Care Act education meeting.

This meeting will explain the application process and list the documents which will be required for enrollment.

The meeting will be followed by an enrollment event on Thursday, March 27 where attendees will be assisted with their application.

March 31 is the last date to sign up for health care coverage in order to avoid paying a tax penalty unless you qualify for an exemption from the law.

To avoid the penalty, you must either obtain qualified health coverage or prove your eligibility for an exception. You will report whether you have coverage -- or whether you are exempt -- when you file your taxes in 2015.

For additional information on the Taft Community ACA Education Meeting, please call the West Side Community Resource Center at 765-7281 or 763-4489.
