Unconfirmed reports of arrest after pursuit through the Temblors

A high speed pursuit involving Kern County Sheriff's deputies, the Sheriff's helicopter and San Luis Obispo County deputies stretched from Taft to California Valley Sunday night.

There were unconfirmed reports of an arrest.

There were also unconfirmed repors that the suspect was wanted on a felony warrant, but details on the incident wasn't immediately available.

The pursuit started in Ford City and speeds reached as high as 90 miles per hour as the suspect fled west.

The pursuit started just after 7 p.m. in the area of the 600 block of Buchanan Street when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a red pickup. The truck sped away with the deputy in pursuit.

The chase went northbound on Lincoln Street to Midway Road, the west of Midway with speeds reaching 90 miles per hour.

The chase continued through Fellows, west on Mocal Road, then turned west into the Temblors on Crocker Springs Road.

By this time the KCSO helicopter had joined the chase and tracked the suspect vehicle north through the Temblors, then west into California Valley.

Deputies from Kern County and San Luis Obispo County on the ground then surrounded a house in the rural community.
