Warrant issued after lengthy investigation. Suspect also wanted for grand theft auto in Bakersfield
Kern County Sheriffs deputies are asking for the public's help finding a Taft man wanted for a rape that occurred in 2013 in the Ford City area.
Sgt. Martin Downs said deputies started investigating a reported rape on Oct. 24 in the Ford City area.
Because of privacy laws, he could not release details of the crime other than to say Burns has been identified as the suspect
After a lengthy investigation by detectives from the Taft substation, Downs said, reports were submitted to the Kern County District Attorney's Office and a warrant for Kenneth Burns' arrest was issued.
The warrant charges Burns with one count of rape by force or fear.
He is also wanted on unrelated charges of drunk and disorderly from Taft and resisting or obstructing an officer and auto theft from a Bakersfield case.
Burns is a 40-year-old white male standing 6-1 and weighing 280 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes.
