Boys finish 11th while girls finish 15th
The Taft boys and girls track and field team took advantage of a perfect spring day when they competed in the Wildcat Invitational.
As a team, the Wildcats finished eleventh out of 15 teams with 25 points. Garces was first with 101.5 points.
Alejandro Quinonez had the highest finish for Taft by coming in third in the 3K steeplechase with a time of 11:13.71. Seth Bullard was fifth in the race with a time of 11:19.00.
Zack Kolb was ninth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.60 while Cesar Guerrero was tenth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.53. Matthew Cordova was eleventh in the race with a time of 19.64.
Cordova was twelfth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.22. Josh Sailor was 20th and 22nd in the 100 meter and the 200 meters respectively with times of 12.26 and 25.26.
Cody McCaleb was 19th in the 200 meters by finishing in a time of 25.11.
Donovan Watrous was 12th in the 400 meters with a time of 55.88. Bullard was 15th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.93.
McCaleb, Gable, Chris Kast and Sailor teamed up to finish eighth out of 13 teams in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.76. McCaleb, Kast, Sailor and Watrous joined forces to finish seventh in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:48.65.
Gable had the best result among the Wildcat boys in the field events by coming in a tie for fourth with a total of 10-06. Zack Kolb had a score of 37-11.05 in the triple jump to finish sixth, CJ Lewis was 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 35-01.
Roy Allen was seventh in the discus with a mark of 126-04.
As a team, the Lady Wildcats finished 15 out of 16 teams with 9.5 points. West was first with 101.5.
Kandice Talavera had the highest finish of the day for the Lady Wildcats by placing third in the pole vault with a mark of 7-00. Kelsey Rushing was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 6-00.
In the field events, Rushing had the highest placement by coming in 11th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.58. Mayda Cisneros was 12th in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:14.00 while Mikayla Bratcher was 12th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:47.79.
Marta Robles finished in a time of 15:04.05 to place 13th.
