CHP will seek warrant for suspect's arrest on felony charges

A suspect in the hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning that injured a mother and her two-year-old son has been identified.

He has not been arrested yet.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jerry Knight said officers will be forwarding information to the Kern County District Attorney's Office seeking charges of felony hit and run with bodily injury.

If the District Attorney files charges, officers will obtain an arrest warrant and arrest the suspect.

Neither the suspect nor the victims have been released.

The victims were in a small passenger car that was eastbound on Buena Vista Street that was struck by the suspect's SUV. They suffered minor injuries, CHP officers said, and were taken by ambulance to Bakersfield.

The suspect was northbound on Rose and fled on foot after the crash.
Witnesses at the scene said both vehicles had just dropped children off a block away at Conley School. The witnesses were able to provide leads on the identity of the suspect as well.
