Taft shoots a round of 485

The Taft boys golf team’s string of second place results came to an end Monday afternoon when they shot a 485 at Sycamore Canyon Golf Course in Arvin. 

“We played from the blue tees this week and the team played well,” said Taft coach Mike Goodwin. “Sycamore can be a tough course with all of the water and the length of the course. We were proud of the way the guys played today.”

Cesar Chavez won the tournament with a round of 406. Bakersfield Christian was second with a score of 429. Shafter followed Taft with a round of 506.

Tanner Leikam and Harrison Sorensen had the lowest rounds of the day for the Wildcats with each shooting an 89. Jacob Lopez followed with a 92 while Colby Stuck chipped in with a 103.  Taari Morgan rounded out the Wildcat scoring with a 112. Marcus Grossbard shot a score of 118.

In the overall standings, Bakersfield Christian is first with 72 points. Taft is second with 60 while Cesar Chavez is in third with 40.

Taft returns to play Thursday afternoon when they compete at Riverlakes.
