  • Probation search leads to 2-year jail term

  • Deputies find more than half an ounce of meth in Taft man's home

  • A probation search of a Taft man's home earlier this month led to the seizure of more than a half-ounce of methamphetamine and the suspect's arrest on drug dealing charges.
    Sgt. Marc Haiungs said deputies went to the home of Bobby Miller on April 2 for the probation search.,
    They located 22.3 grams of methamphetamine packed for individual sales and other items indicative of drug sales, the sergeant said.
    Miller, 58 was arrested and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
    He subsequently pleaded guilty to the drug possession charge and was sentenced to two years in prison,
    Kern County Superior Court records show.
    Court records also show Miller was on probation for a prior drug trafficking charge and his part in the attempted theft of oilfield pipe that led to arson charges after a cutting torch touched off a brush fire.
