Taft scores all 36 runs in five inning game
Normally it is a Bakersfield Christian team that is dominant and provides fear into other teams. The tables were turned in Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon when the Taft varsity softball team roared past the Lady Eagles 36-0.
Taft started their scoring outburst in the first inning when they sent 14 batters to the plate for nine runs. Cailtyn Emberson led the charge by hitting a two run home run over the left field fence in her first at bat and a run scoring double in her second at bat.
The Lady Wildcats were just getting warmed up after they batted around twice in the second inning while scoring 14 runs. It was Corie Evans turn to lead the charge with a bloop run scoring single in the first at bat of the inning before hitting a two run triple in her second at bat. Haylee Tracy joined in the rally with a two run single in her first at bat.
Scoring trailed off a bit for the Lady Wildcats in the third inning when they sent 12 batters to the plate while scoring eight runs. Tracy had one of the highlights with a two run double.
After a quiet fourth inning, Taft put the final touches to their scoring spree capped by Emberson's three run home run over the right field fence.
While Taft was scoring runs only three runners got on base thanks to a single, a fielder's choice and a walk.
