Items were taken from oilfield business Tuesday, arrests were made Wednesday

Two Taft residents have been arrested in connection with the theft of cell phones and laptop computers from a local oilfield business.

Kern County Sheriff's Sgt. Marc Haiungs said deputies started their investigation early on Tuesday at the business on Midway Road and arrested the suspects the next day.

Bradley Wilkerson, 36, was taken into custody in the 100 block of Monroe Street and one lap top was recovered during a probation search, Haiungs said.
Wilkerson was charged with possession of stolen property.

Later, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Amber Wise, 34.
During the stop, a deputy saw a cell phone matching the description of the ones stolen in the burglary and further investigation revealed that it was indeed one of the missing phones.

Glass methamphetamine smoking pipes were also found in the vehicle.
Wise was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and several vehicle code violations.
