Taft erupts for seven runs in the third inning to defeat Wasco

Only four games stood between the Taft varsity softball team and clinching another perfect league season.

In order to do that they had to make a comeback after storming back from two down to defeat the Wasco Tigers 14-2 at home Tuesday afternoon.

Taft had their chances to get a lead in the first and second innings of the game but they were unable to break through.

Wasco took advantage of that along with an error and a two run single in the top of the third inning to lead 2-0.

That is when the Lady Wildcats opened the floodgates. In their half of the third inning, Taft sent 11 batters to the plate while scoring seven times. Haylee Tracy highlighted the outburst with a two run home run while Josey Burke had a two run single.

After Taft added two runs in the fourth, the Lady Wildcats put the game away in the fifth inning capped by Burke's thee run home run over the left field fence.

Taft resumes their game against Robert F. Kennedy Thursday afternoon in Delano. The following day, the Lady Wildcats will hold senior day against Arvin. Friday's game begins at 4 p.m.
