Wildcats hand Wasco an 8-3 loss
In about a week, the season will come to an end for the Taft junior varsity baseball team. Before that day arrives the Wildcats will be looking to complete a perfect league record starting with Tuesday afternoon’s 8-3 victory over the Wasco Tigers at home.
With the victory, Taft improves to 19-2 overall and 8-0 in the South Sequoia League.
Taft held the early advantage by scoring a run in the first inning and two in the second. Wasco cut into the lead with a run in the top of the third but Taft quickly answered with two in their half of the inning.
Wasco attempted to narrow the deficit again with two in the fourth inning. However, Taft answered with a run in the fourth inning to win the game.
C. Anderson and Christian Palacios each were 2-for-3. Anderson had two runs batted in while Palacios scored two runs. Tevin Howell was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in. Jeremy Wilmer and Frankie Camacho each were 1-for-3. Camacho also had a run scored and a double while Wilmer drove in two runs.
Jimmy Castellon and Kyle Tarpley each scored a run.
Noah Parson threw an inning and two thirds allowing a walk while striking out three. Howell pitched the final five and a third innings allowing three runs (one earned), four walks and striking out 10 batters.
Taft will play in their final home game Friday when they host Arvin. The game begins at 4 p.m.
