Taft defeats Arvin 6-1 to close out home schedule
On a very warm day in Taft, the Taft varsity baseball team drew a close to their home regular season Friday afternoon when they handed the Arvin Bears a 6-1 loss.
Taft scored half of their runs in the last half of the first inning thanks to two walks, a pair of singles, a hit batter and a passed ball.
Arvin got one of the runs back in the second with a pair of singles a hit batter and an infield error.
The rest of the scoring went the Wildcats way starting with the third inning when they scored two runs on a leadoff triple, two singles and a walk. Taft tacked on a run in the fourth thanks to a pair of walks, and an error.
Arvin had a chance to score again in the fifth with a one out single, a ground out and a passed ball but the final batter flied out.
Taft returns to action Monday to face Robert F. Kennedy in Delano. The game begins at 4 p.m.
