Wildcats keep perfect league record in tact

In a sense, the Taft junior varsity baseball team had mixed emotions in their final home game of the season Friday afternoon when they blew past the Arvin Bears 17-1.

It didn’t take long for the Wildcats to get started after putting up five runs in the first inning before adding six in the second and third innings. Meanwhile, the Bears lone run of the game came in the top of the third inning.

Daniel Cortez was 2-for-2 with three runs batted in, Frankie Camacho was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, three runs batted in and one double.
C. Anderson was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Christian Palacios was 2-for-3 with a run scored, four runs batted in and a double.

Jason Jones was 1-for-1 with three runs scored while Noah Parson was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a run batted in and a double. Howell was 1-for-3 with three runs scored, a run batted in and a double.

Jeremy Wilmer threw five innings allowing six walks, an earned run while striking out six.

After a makeup game Monday, the Wildcats return to Delano Tuesday to face Cesar Chavez. The game begins at 4 p.m.
