He shoots an 82 while Harrison Sorensen misses the cut with an 87
The Taft boys golf team had a piece of good news and bad news Tuesday afternoon when one of two Wildcat players made the cut in the Area Championship at Sundale Country Club.
“Both guys played great all year and the coaching staff could not be happier with both their team and individual performances,” said Taft coach Mike Goodwin.
Out of the two, Tanner Leikam made the cut by finishing among the top 15 golfers with a score of 82. Overall, Leikam was in a four way tie for the final spot and just missed getting a medal due to a card off.
By making the cut, Leikam advanced to the Valley Championship at River Bend Golf Course in Madera on Tuesday, May 20.
Leikam is also the first golfer since Blake McPherson to earn a spot in this tournament according to Goodwin.
Meanwhile, Harrison Sorensen shot a round of 87 but was five strokes over the cut line.
