  • A man arrested for drug trafficking in Taft on April 23 will be sentenced on June 4 after he pleaded no contest to the charge in Kern County Superior Court this week.
    Antonio Olivas, 41 was arrested by Kern County Sheriff's deputies when they searched his home on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue and seized a large amount of drugs and cash.
    Charges against a co-defendant, Roxana Gil, 29, were dismissed at a pretrial hearing on Tuesday,
    Olivas pleaded no contest Tuesday in Bakersfield to one count of drug trafficking and a second count, maintaining a house to sell drugs, was dismissed.
    Deputies said they seized approximately 3.15 ounces of suspected Methamphetamine and $14,761 in currency during the search.
    Olivas is being held without bail pending his sentencing.
