Taft hands Cesar Chavez an 8-2 loss

It is not too often a team will have a magical season.

The Taft junior varsity baseball team continued theirs with an 8-2 victory over the Cesar Chavez Titans Tuesday afternoon in Delano.

With the victory, Taft improves to 21-2 overall and 10-0 in the South Sequoia League with one game remaining in the season.

Taft started their surge with two runs in the first inning. After adding single runs in the second and fifth innings, the Wildcats finished off their offense with four runs in the top of the seventh inning. Meanwhile the Titans were held to a single run in the first and third innings.

Daniel Cortez and Noah Parson each were 2-for-4. Cortez also scored two runs and had two runs batted in while Parson scored a run. Cameron Anderson and Tevin Howell each were 2-for-3 with Anderson scoring a run while Howell drove two runs in. Jeremy Wilmer was 2-for-2 with a run scored while Christian Palacios was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two runs batted in.

Parson threw a complete game three hitter allowing one earned run, three hits and five walks. Parson also struck out 11 batters.
The Wildcats close out their season Friday when they travel up to Shafter. The game begins at 4 p.m.
