Taft hands Shafter a 17-run loss
When it came to the league schedule this year, the Taft varsity softball team had a walk in the park. The Lady Wildcats completed their stroll Friday afternoon when they handed the Shafter Generals a 21-4 loss in Shafter.
With the victory, Taft completed their regular season with an overall record of 33-2 and a league record of 12-0. The victory also extends the Lady Wildcats winning streak in league play to 38.
Taft started the game against Shafter quietly by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Wildcats opened the floodgates in the second inning with 10 while scoring a run in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Halle Neher was 2-for-4 in the game with a run batted in while Josey Burke was ask 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in. Corie Evans was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Hayle Tracy was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a run batted in.
Katie Evans, Makenzie Thornsberry, Arizona Pilgrim, and Caitlyn Emberson each were 1-for-4. Thornsberry, Pilgrim and Emberson each had a run batted in.
Pilgrim threw seven innings allowing two hits and an earned run while striking out 11.
