Taft scores eleven of the twelve runs in a two inning span
On a hot Tuesday afternoon in Taft, the Taft varsity baseball team found some relief when they blew past the Mira Monte Lions in the first round of the CIF- Central Section playoffs.
This was the first time a Wildcat baseball team has reached the quarterfinal round of the playoffs since 2009.
Taft had their chances to score in the first and second innings but they came away with only one run.
The Wildcats finally broke open the dam in the bottom of the third inning by sending ten batters to the plate while scoring six runs. Cain Roberts had one of the highlights with a two run double down the third base line while Austin Pendergrass had a two run single.
Taft followed up the next inning with five runs while sending another ten batters to the plate. Anthony Rodriguez and Pendergrass highlighted the run with a run scoring singles.
The Wildcats will return to action Thursday when they host the winner of the Dos Palos- Corcoran game. Thursday's game begins at 4:30 p.m.
