Defendant arrested May 19 for trespass, then evidence linked her to burglary, Kern County Sheriff said
A Taft woman arrested in May for burglary has been sentenced to six months in jail in return for a no contest plea.
Tahaira Waldon also received a concurrent 90-day sentence for trespass in an unrelated case that led to evidence linking her to the burglary.
Waldon, 26, accepted a plea agreement in Kern County Superior Court on Wednesday. A felony first-degree burglary count was reduced to a misdemeanor and a charge of unlawfully starting a fire was dismissed.
Waldon was arrested by Kern County Sheriff's deputies on May 19 when they responded to a peace disturbance on the 300 block of Montview.
Waldon was accused of going into a backyard without permission and starting a fire in a barbecue pit.
The investigation into that case led to the discovery of evidence linking her to a burglary in the 100 block of Maricopa Place that occurred May 1, a Sheriff's sergeant said at the time of her arrest.
