  • Taft Tigersharks hit the road again

  • The Taft Tigersharks swim team had a piece of good news Saturday by continuing their successful run at Rio Bravo Greeley and a piece of bad news as this would be their last meet for a couple of weeks.
    Presley Golling led the charge by winning four races. Golling started his run by winning the 11-year old boys 100-yard IM in a time of 1:25.32. Golling won his second meet in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 31.91.
    Golling continued his run by winning the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 38.63 before winning the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 46.06.
    Cooper Golling followed by winning three races. Golling kicked off his winning ways by finishing first in the seven year old boys 50-yard freestyle with a time of 38.81. Golling followed with a second place finish in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 24.06.
    Golling returned to his winning ways by finishing first in the 25-yard breaststroke with a time of 25.36. Golling’s final victory came in the 25-yard butterfly where he finished in a time of 21.40.
    Sam Barnes chipped in with a pair of victories.
    Barnes first win was in the 14-year old boys 100-yard IM with a time of 1:06.41. Barnes second victory was in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.41.
    Alex Toro, Brenden Gratt and Sophie Dowhy each won a race.
    Toro won the 13-year old boys 50-yard backstroke in a time of 34.58. Toro also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard breaststroke with respective times of 28.60 and 40.19.
    Gratt won his race in the seven year old boys 25-yard freestyle with a time of 19.25. Gratt also finished second in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 23.25. Gratt also finished in a fifth place tie with teammate Fletcher McClanahan with a time of 25.16.
    Dowhy won her race in the seven year old girls 25-yard breaststroke with a time of 25.77.
    Julie Heimiller was second in the 12-year old girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 36.20. Heimiller was also third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 41.88. Heimiller was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.19.
    Mason Gratt was second in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 35.78 and third in the five and under boys 25-yard freestyle with a time of 31.75. Breanna McDonel was second in the nine year old girls 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.57.
    Kaylee McDonel was third in the 14-year old girls 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 42.13 and the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 39.12.
    Robert Heimiller finished fourth in the 11-year old 50-yard butterfly with a time of 42.89. McClanahan was fifth in the 25-yard butterfly with a time of 32.70.
    Page 2 of 2 - Taft was originally supposed to compete in a meet this Tuesday and again Saturday but both were cancelled. Taft returns to action again Tuesday, July 8 with a Tehachapi B meet.
