Suspect was arrested by Taft Police Monday, escaped overnight Tuesday and was rearrested Wednesday

A Taft man who escaped from the Kern County Sheriff's central receiving facility overnight Tuesday is back in jail after he was captured by Taft Police Wednesday morning.

Taft Police arrested Anthony Louis Goff, 19, on Monday for two misdemeanor warrants.

He was subsequently turned over to the custody of the KCSO and appeared in court on Tuesday to be arraigned on a probation violation and failure to appear on another charge.

Goff escaped from the Sheriff's custody overnight, a KCSO spokesman confirmed Wednesday morning, but details of the escape weren't available.

Taft Police were notified of the escape, and about 10 a.m. an officer spotted Goff on North Tenth Street near Ash.

He was detained then turned over to Kern County Sheriff's deputies, who transported him back to the central receiving facility.

Goff is being held on $16,000 bail and is scheduled to be back in court next week.
