Caitlyn Emberson, Arizona Pilgrim and Haylee Tracy named to all state team for small schools
It was a little over a month ago that the Taft varsity softball team won their second straight Valley title. The glow of that successful season continued recently when Caitlyn Emberson, Haylee Tracy and Arizona Pilgrim were named to the Cal High sports first team all state team for small schools.
According to the Cal-Hi sports website, Taft was the only school with three first team players.
Pilgrim, who went 30-2 overall and had a 0.76 earned run average, was joined on the first team pitchers list with players from Richmond, San Bernardino, Ventura and San Pedro.
Meanwhile, Tracy, had 51 runs batted in and a .505 batting average, was joined on the first team infield list by players from Hughson, Richmond, Petaluma, Ventura, Lodi, Monterey, Pine Valley, Wheatland, La Jolla, Pasadena.
Emberson, who batted .587 with 11 home runs and 66 runs batted in, was one of two catchers on the first team catchers list.
Tracy was a senior on this past year’s team and will be going to Evansville in the fall. Meanwhile, Pilgrim and Emberson will be returning for their senior year.
Taft completed their championship run by defeating Liberty of Madera 6-0 to finish with a record of 36-2 and finish first in the final Division IV state rankings.
