Victim was pushed to ground, suffered head injury during altercation at Buckolies
The man injured in a fight outside a downtown bar Saturday night died from his injuries and another man has been arrested on murder charges.
Taft Police identified the victim as Billy Joe Burell Jr., 42.
Police said he suffered a head injury during a fight.
“During the fight, it appears Burell was pushed, fell back, and struck his head on the asphalt roadway, causing his injury,” police said in a news release.
No weapons were used in the fight, police said.
Police arrested one suspect, identified as Lyndon Faagu, 24, and charged him with murder
Police responded to a report of a fight at Buckolies about 10:30 p.m., according to the news release.
Chief of Police Ed Whiting said at the scene late Saturday night that there were apparently several people involved in the fight
Burell was found lying in the street by police when they arrived.
He was treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics then transported by ground to Mercy Southwest Hospital where he died at 11:50 p.m.
