Police say man had 3 firearms, fired multiple shots Thursday morning
Taft Police have arrested a man for firing multiple shots from at least one of three weapons in a residential neighborhood Thursday.
Officers are also investigating a possible case of brandishing a weapon involving the ame suspect from Wednesday night.
Police were called to the 200 block of Warren Street at 9:41 a.m. for a report of shots being fired at 229 Warren Street, Lt. Pete Aranda said.
Officers arrived and found a man identified as Jason Lee Anderson, 40, sitting on the front porch.
He was detained, Aranda said, and admitted to discharging a firearm within the residence, Aranda said.
Anderson was arrested at that point and secured the house while they obtained a search warrant.
Three weapons, a rifle and two pistols, were found in the living room.
A search revealed that multiple shots had been fired through the carpet into the floor of the house.
Aranda declined to disclose the caliber of the weapons or why the suspect said he fired the shots because he said it could jeopardize the investigation.
He said Anderson was not under the influence.
Anderson was booked for reckless discharge of a firearm, but could face more charges, Aranda said.
While officers were at the location, a neighbor told them “he had heard what sounded to him like a gun being discharged.
“When he looked across the street he saw the suspect brandishing a weapon in his direction,” Aranda added. “This is also under investigation.”
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Taft Police at 763-3101.
