December 26, 1946 – July 7, 2014

A memorial service for George Dee Polston will be held at Basham Funeral Care on Saturday July 12, 2014 at 11am. George was born to Ezra Odell Polston and Alice Marie Polston on December 26, 1946 and went home to be with his savior on July 7, 2014.

George attended Taft Union High School and went on to have many diverse occupations, from a barber, a volunteer firefighter for Taft City Fire Department, a search and rescue volunteer, he drove an ambulance for Hall Ambulance Service, he volunteered for Assemblyman Trice Harvey, was a sales representative for Cummings Vacuum Service and RV Peddlers, and was self-employed as a Baker tank cleaner.

George enjoyed spending time at the beach and fishing with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed Morro Bay and Pismo Beach. George was most comfortable in his Bermuda shorts, straw hat and t-shirt. After he retired, George cared for his grandmother Lucy until her passing. He then spent his remaining years enjoying time with his family, working in his yard, and visiting with his neighbors.

George was survived by his wife of 20 years Kathryn Polston, Daughter and son-in-law Rusty & Jack Hollis, his Son George David Polston and step-daughter and son-in-law Gail & Doug Jester. His sister and Brother-in-law Ann & Ron Cornelius, sister and Brother-in-law Mary & Larry Kirkendall, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ezra Odell Polston and Alice Marie Polston (Frietas), and his nephew Jeremy Miller.

George’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Mercy Hospital’s Intensive care unit for caring for George in his final days with love and compassion, we are eternally grateful.
