  • Taft Tigersharks find success in two locations

  • It may have been the final week of the summer season for the Taft Tigersharks but they showed no signs of letting up their successful run after competing at the two day Mark V Brown  Summer Spectacular swim last Friday and Saturday at Garces High School in Bakersfield.
    Presley Golling led the charge by winning four races.
    Golling started his run by finishing first in the 11 year old boys 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:09.48. Golling followed with a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:18.50.
    The next victory for Golling was in the 100-yard IM where he finished in a time of 1:22.27. Golling’s final win was in the 50-yard breaststroke where he had a time of 43.47.
    Cooper Golling followed in the victory category with three.
    Golling won his first race in the seven year old boys 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 52.15.
    Golling doubled his win total in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 47.99 before winning the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:39.10.
    Antonia Perier joined the multi winner list by winning two races. Perier’s first victory was in the 10-year old girls 100-yard IM where she had a time of 1:22.03. Perier also won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 31.89.
    Along with her victories, Perier was second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:08.93 and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:34.53. Perier was also third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 44.56.
    Perier also joined Brooke Ashmore, Kylie Taylor and Bronson Ortlieb to finish second in the 9-10 year olds mixed 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:18.86.
    Sophie Dowhy and Kaylee McDonel each won a race and finished fourth.
    Dowhy won the seven year old girls 25-yard breaststroke with a time of 25.59 while Rio Bravo Greeley’s Mia Sentes was second with a time of 26.91. Dowhy was also fourth in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 25.37.
    Meanwhile, McDonel won the 14-year old girls 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 41.86 while finishing fourth in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 40.02.
    Vienna Perier finished second in the six year old girls 50-yard breaststroke and the 25-yard freestyle with respective times of 1:05.90 and 22.16. Perier also finished third in the 25-yard backstroke with a time of 27.05.
    Ashmore had a second place finish in the 10-year old girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 39.99. Ashmore also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:30.44 and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:08.93.
    Julie Heimiller finished second three different times.
    The first was in the 12-year old girls 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:06.33. Heimiller was second in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard IM with respective times of 1:19.50 and 1:18.27.
    Page 2 of 2 - Ortlieb had a second place finish in the 10-year old boys 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.85 while Kiley Nance was second in the nine year old girls 100-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.54. Robert Heimiller was fourth in the 11-year old boys 100-yard IM with a time of 1:33.67.
    The success continued a couple days later when the Tigersharks competed in a B meet at Rio Bravo Greeley Tuesday.
    Mia Aguirre finished second in the seven year old girls 25-yard butterfly with a time of 33.70. Baylie Lyon was second in the 13 and over girls in the girls 50-yard backstroke with a time of 46.78. Lyon was also third in the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard breaststroke with respective times of 39.41 and 57.62.
    Daniel Velarde was second in the nine year old boys 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.71 while Reanna Rowland was third in the 10-year old girls 50-yard butterfly with a time of 56.06.
    Due to a problem with the Garces High School pool, this Saturday’s championship meet has been changed to the Taft High pool. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
