  • Copper wire stolen, fence damaged during attempted theft

  • The Kern County Sheriff's Rural Crimes Investigations Unit is seeking the public's help in three investigations in the Taft area.
    Two involved copper wire, and one was an attempted theft.
    Here are the cases:
    •Nine rolls of #6 ¼” bare copper wire, and 100’ of 4 AUT wire were stolen from a seatrain located on an oil lease near Highway 119 and Midway Road.     •Unknown suspects vandalized a fence surrounding a storage. Contact Brunsell if you have any information about the vandalism and theft attempt. Refer to case #SR14-18293.
    •Four copper cables were stolen from between a water well and power box located in the 14400 block of Highway 166. The copper cables are further described as: Diesel Locomotive cables with a gauge of 4/0, each weighing about 50 pounds, with a total of 120 feet being stolen.
