Pilgrim named to first team list while Emberson was named to second team list

It has been several months since the Taft varsity softball team won their second straight Division IV title. Yet, the glow is still going strong after the Lady Wildcats Arizona Pilgrim and Caitlyn Emberson made Max Preps’ 2014 Small Schools All-American Softball team recently.

Pilgrim, who went 30-2 with 243 strikeouts and a .76 earned run average in 165 innings, made the first team. Pilgrim joined players from Ohio, Connecticut, Indiana, Texas, Wisconsin, California, Tennessee, Arizona and Montana.

Meanwhile, Emberson made the second team by batting .587 with 66 runs batted in, 20 doubles and 11 home runs. Emberson joins players on the team from Illinois, Arizona, Alabama, Louisiana, Rhode Island, Michigan, Texas, Indiana, Utah, California, New York, Washington, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Pilgrim and Emberson, who are both juniors and are battery mates, were part of a Lady Wildcat team that went 36-2 overall and 12-0 before defeating Liberty Madera Ranchos for the second straight year in the title game.
