Fire that destroyed home under investigation

A fire that destroyed a Ford City home on July 29 was apparently intentionally set, according to the Kern County Fire Department.

In a report released Friday, the fire at 303 Adams Street is classified as incendiary and is under investigation.

The fire broke out at about 10:20 p.m. in the house.
The occupants were able to escape the burning safely, but the house was destroyed.

The entire front of the house was engulfed in flames and fire was spreading through the attic when firefighters arrived several minutes later.

Damage was estimated at $70,000.

A July 19 fire at a home at 421 Lucard St. was accidental, the KCFD said.

That fire caused $50,000 damage.
