Taft High sports teams start fall practice

It may still seem like summer to a number of kids but for a number of Taft High athletes, the fall season  arrived this past week with the start of practice.

“The kids have been working hard,” said Taft coach Jarudd Prosser. “They have great attitudes and great work ethics.”

The Wildcats started their practice Monday followed by four straight days of two hour, morning practices. According to Prosser at the highest, the Taft football team had 42 players come out for the team.

Varsity football is not the only sport that got underway this past week.

Volleyball practice will be starting Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the cross country team will resume practice next Thursday while the water polo team will start practice Aug.18.

The teams will continue to practice until the volleyball teams compete in a scrimmage Tuesday, Aug.19. That Thursday the tennis teams will open their schedule at Tehachapi.

On Friday, Aug.22 the three football teams will be traveling up to Tehachapi to compete in a scrimmage.
